The Justice Impacted Family Engagement Program was developed late 2017 by The Family Support Organization (FSO) and Youth Services Commission (YCS). Data collection discovered that families wanted to contribute more opportunities and participate in the care and services of their children. This progressive program provides unique platform to "Ensure Family Voice is Heard" in the Camden County System of Care population.
A Justice Impacted Family Engagement Partner is a peer to peer parent/caregiver who has been through Juvenile Justice System process with their own family. They have learned the navigation of the Juvenile Justice System firsthand and have experience supporting others in their individual journey.
Our mission is to encourage self-advocacy by providing support, education and advocacy to the parents, caregivers and families of youth involved with juvenile justice as they navigate many systems their child may encounter.
The Juvenile Justice Family Engagement Partner can support you individually, at court, school meetings, and participates in your child's mental health team planning meeting. We offer voluntary parent education classes, offer parent workshops and training to fit your families and youth's needs. Your Justice Impacted Family Engagement Specialist will work directly with you to understand your needs and frustration, while helping you to develop a plan of action in a non-judgmental way. The more you as a parent understand the system around the family, the more you can empower yourself to create successful outcomes.
The Justice Impacted Family Engagement Partner bridges the gap between families in the Camden County System including Juvenile Courts, Informal Court, Detention, Probation, and Parole. Children System of Care and Public Education by providing a seat at the table to "Ensure The Family Voice Is Heard"!
